Community Matters - Volunteer!

The Mineral Point Rescue Squad is looking for individuals to join our squad. Our service has a few paid positions but is still made of mostly volunteers who are EMRs, EMTs and Advanced EMTs. Our squad is a 24-hour service. We serve as an emergency medical transport service and standby at community events. Come meet us and fill out an application. You can ride along on calls before committing to taking the class. MPRS will cover the full cost of the class assuming you meet all requirements. The skills you acquire are valuable life skills that you can apply every day.

To obtain an application for volunteer membership to MPRS, you can do any of the following: download the application from here, contact an existing member, or request an application via email (listed on the contact us page).

Steps

  1. Fill out an application and return it to any member, email it, or mail it to the Mineral Point Rescue Squad (see contact us page).
  2. Attend one of our monthly meetings held on the third Monday of each month. You can introduce yourself as well as ask and take questions.
  3. We will set up a brief interview. You may then be eligible for our ride along program. This enables you to ride along on live calls to observe before committing to taking the class if you are not already licensed.

Based on your involvement during the ride along program, each potential member is voted on before attending the EMR/EMT Basic class sponsored by MPRS.

EMS PRAYER

As I perform my duty Lord
Whatever be the call,
Help to guide and keep me safe
From dangers big and small.

I want to serve and do my best
No matter what the scene,
I pledge to keep my skills refined,
My judgement quick and keen.

This calling to give of my self
Most do not understand,
But I stand ready all the time
To help my fellow man.

To have the chance to help a child
Restore his laugh with glee,
A word of thanks I might not hear,
But knowing is enough for me.

The praise of men is fine for some,
But I feel truly blessed,
That you oh Lord have chosen me
To serve in EMS!
